Choices placements are inspired by our young person

Choices Placements

Choices placements utilise the step-up or step-down strategy depending on the young person's needs.

Choices placements include 24/7 staffed shared houses for multiple placements, including a female only unit, as well as standalone flats with floating support and bespoke placements. Our bespoke placements accommodate high-risk, vulnerable and challenging young people with one-to-one support around the clock.

By prioritizing the quality of life and personal growth of our residents, Choices is committed to creating collaborative care programs that address their individual needs and concerns. We believe in working closely with local authorities and the young people themselves to develop tailored support strategies.

Our approach includes a variety of support services, ranging from independent living skills like cooking and financial management to emotional and moral support during important meetings or visits. Ultimately, we strive to ensure that every young person we assist is equipped with the skills and confidence needed to thrive as they transition into independent living.

Types of placement with Choices

Choices placements accomodates the unique needs of each young person leaving care

Choices Supporeted Living placements are dependent on your needs, we have a robust matching process for young people who can live safely and happily as a group. 24/7 support of standalone and individual placements.

Shared living

Young people placed within Choices shared houses are provided with a minimum of 5 hours of professional support to achieve independence, according to their assessed needs. Support is adjusted according to the changing needs of the young person and can be increased or decreased dependant on their need.

Whilst the young person is within our placement at Choices we deliver a step-down strategy to increase the young person’s skills, giving them greater opportunities towards independence.

We have a robust matching process so that young people can live safely and happily as a group.

Standalone

Choices standalone placements are for young people who might have previously lived in a shared house or received bespoke 24/7 one to one support, but are now part of a step-down strategy.

Young people within a standalone placement would be accommodated in a one bedroom flat where they would still receive a minimum of one hours support per week. Each placement can have high or medium levels of support dependent on the changing needs of the young person.

Although we ensure that the young person continues to be supported, a plan would be put in place to gradually reduce support in order to transition a young person from supported accommodation services to their own tenancy within an independent living environment.

Individual Supported Living

Choices can provide intensive 24/7 supported accommodation, which includes bespoke one to one support for particularly complex vulnerable young people. We understand the clear and proven links between a healthy, active lifestyle and good physical and mental health, which is key to a young person’s chances of living independently.

Our personalised approach allows us to support young people in addition to identifying and addressing their individual needs, challenging risky behaviours and supporting them in accessing local community services safely and independently.
