‘I am a social worker, working for Bolton Council and I had the opportunity to work with Diane and her team for around two months following a child being placed within the Choices supported living placement. It has been a pleasure working with Diane and the whole team, the experience for the young person and also for myself as a professional has been outstanding from beginning to end. The young person was matched with the placement, and they had a high level of need in terms of physical and emotional. However, Diane took a professional and nurturing approach to trying to ensure that every area of need was covered.
Diane has made herself available at every moment of the day and always answers her phone, I have had no problems being able to communicate with Diane. Diane has also ensured that we have been updated regarding any changes or even any small changes via phone or email. Some of this information being shared has been positive and ensuring not only significant events or worries are shared, that also any need for praise or positive steps for the young person is celebrated. Diane is professional and manages the placement in an orderly fashion, yet also with a nurturing approach towards the young people.
All paperwork has been processed immediately and Diane has always ensured that the placement have followed all policies and procedures correctly. It really has been a pleasure working with Diane and her team, it has been the most inclusive and child centred placement I have ever worked within in my ten year career’.
I would like to offer some positive feedback. I have been working with Choices since March 2024. I have found that all the staff are nurturing and caring towards my young person. I have had no concerns about any of their interactions with my YP and feel that she has always benefitted from an excellent standard of care.
I feel in the past six months that Choices have also worked to improve how they prepare my YP for independence. While nurturing is a positive thing it can prevent promoting independence and I feel that the staff have worked hard in recent time to ensure that this balance is right.
I feel that management and staff really advocate well for my young person. They are able to support YP to advocate for themselves but that when she is struggling they will advocate strongly on her behalf while also being realistic with expectations.
